Lesson 52 | 01/18/26 Revelation 13:3-4, 11-14 | Rise of the Antichrist pt 2
Last week we ended with verse 3 in our study of chapter 13, and we saw this man of sin, who came into power through deception and diplomacy, now at the middle of the week, is being empowered by Satan and demons from the bottomless pit as he takes over the world. Let’s read Revelation 13:1-4. We learned from the symbolism that the beast rising out from the sea is the Antichrist who is to come. He is described as having 7 heads and 10 horns which is an exact description of the Dragon in chapter 12 because Satan, the Dragon, has given his authority, throne and power to this man. He is also described as being like a leopard, having the feet of a bear and a mouth of a lion which happen to be the same description of the beasts in Daniel 7 representing the dominating world kingdoms of the past. This description is symbolizing the embodiment of all the characteristics of the previous worldly kingdoms in one man, namely the Antichrist. He is the culmination of all world power and domination and he will rule the last worldly kingdom known as the New World Order. The Seven heads represent the 7 kingdoms of the ages and the 10 horns represent the 10 kings of the New World Order to come. The Antichrist will rise out from the 7th Kingdom and the 10 horns and rule the world, Revelation 17:7-14. But as we learned last week, 3 of the kings will rebel and come against the Antichrist and kill him, but he will seemingly rise from the dead, Daniel 7:8, 24. A big part of this allusion to the Antichrist rising from the dead comes from the help of the False Prophet and his signs and lying wonders. Let’s skip down to verses 11-14...
The Antichrist duet, the False Prophet, will perform miracles Revelation 13:11–14-11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth—by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.
Deceiving with lying wonders and signs, 2 Thess 2:9-10
This False Prophet beast rises out from the earth and causes the earth and all who dwell in it...
The earth is symbolizing the world system. The false religious system of Babylon
(Catholic Church, the great harlot who rides the beast) Rev 17:1-8
The False Prophet is some major leader of the one world false religious system of Babylon, possibly the Pope
4x in this chapter, John mentions the deadly wound that was healed, v.3, 12, 14
This is a major event in which the whole world will marvel at (false Christ, imitating the resurrection)
The False Prophet will perform great signs
Fire come down from heaven like Elijah, 1 Kings 18:30-40.
This events with Elijah proved the Lord to be the true God and all the false believers were executed.
The False Prophet will fabricate something similar. Somehow, fire will come down from heaven, but not from God and as a result the world will marvel
Also as a result, the False Prophet will use this as an reason to execute Christians and Jews who believe in the One True God.
Rev 11:7- the world will rejoice and give praise to the Antichrist
However, God will raise the Two Witnesses from the dead in front of the whole world, Rev 11:11
The Antichrist will break the covenant with Israel
He will take away the daily sacrifices, Daniel 9:24-27; 11:20-39
The Abomination of Desolation Revelation 13:4- So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”
To be worshipped, he will set up an image of himself in the holy of holies, and pronounce himself as god, Dan 8:8-12; 11:36; 12:7-13; 2 Thess 2:4; Matt 24:15
He is not setting up his throne in Buddha’s temple, or a Muslim mosk, or a Hindu temple. He sets his throne up in the Jewish temple because Satan knows who is the one true God.
