Lesson 56 | 02/22/26 Revelation 14:1-13 | The 144,000 Redeemed
The Book of Revelation describes the process in which Jesus is establishing His everlasting Kingdom as He evicts the wicked tenants of the earth and glorifies His saints with Himself. Chapter 14 continues the process of God gathering His Saints to Himself, specifically the 144,000 and the saints of the last 3-1/2 year period. Lets read Revelation 14:1-13. The reason there is so much confusion on the gathering of His Saints is because it is not just one event. It is a process that spans the entire 7 year period before Jesus comes back physically and sets up His Kingdom, Matt 13:24-30; 2 Thess 2:1; 1:3-12. Process of gathering His purchased possession:

The patience and faith of the Saints, Rev 13:9-10

144,000 witnesses Messianic Jews sealed by God
First introduced in chapter 7... interlude that takes us back near the beginning of the Tribulation
Probably a result of the Two Witnesses ministry
V.4 describes these 144,000 as “first fruits to God.”
First fruits of saved Israel during the Tribulation fulfilling Romans 11:25-27; Isaiah 60:1-5

Before the living creatures and the 24 Elders who are still in heaven in the throne room of God, Rev 4-5
These are martyrs who have been redeemed away from the earth, οἱ ἠγορασμένοι ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς
No longer on the earth, probably beheaded for their witness, Rev 20:4
All saints have been redeemed, bought at a price, 1 Cor 6:20; 1 Pet 3:18
This is the process of Jesus gathering His purchased possession, Eph 1:14

Described as virgins
Physical or spiritual?
I believe the emphasis is spiritual, no reason it can’t be speaking physically either
These did not marry the world and commit spiritual harlotry and sexual immorality
Specifically by taking the mark and merging with the system of the Beast
The Church is referred to as virgins in the Scripture,
Matt 25:1-13 (Ten Virgins- not all were raptured, but all considered virgins)
Chaste virgin, holy and blameless, 2 Cor 11:2; Eph 5:27
Those who have not defiled themselves with the world, Rev 2:14; 2:20-23
Redeemed away from men, οὗτοι ἠγοράσθησαν ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων
Rescued from the evil of this world, Isaiah 57:1-2.

Holy and unashamed before the throne
Blameless, covered in the Righteousness of God.
The promise to the believer, Eph 1:4; 5:27; Col 1:22; Jude 24-25.

The Gospel preached to the world, Matt 24:14
εὐαγγέλιον- the good news
the Gospel is Grace and Judgement, to fear God, give Him glory, and receive His Grace to be saved

Recognize that God is the Creator
The earth dwellers are worshipping the Beast as God. He is saying he is better than God
Judgement is coming, Romans 1:18-25.

The spirits of Babylon since Nimrod have seduced and enticed the nations and much of the Church

There is judgement coming on Babylon and all who are merged with her
Babylon will fallen (2x emphatic and quick)
Revelation 14:9-11)
Those who take the mark have come into union with the Beast
Wrath poured out full strength. This has never happened before
Eternal torment- forever of the forever, αἰῶνας αἰώνων
Revelation 14:12)
Patience and endurance, ὑπομονή- under abiding of the saints
Keep the commandments of God (believing in Jesus and holding fast to Him and His Word, 1 Jn 2:3-6; 3:23; John 5:29; 12:50)
