We ended last week with the discussion of Mystery Babylon.
Babylon is not just a political kingdom, it is not just a kingdom of wealth, its not just a kingdom of power, it is also a kingdom of great spiritual and religious influence.
It is the system or the kingdom of darkness that is controlled by fallen angels and demons and has been manipulating mankind for 6,000 years.
And all those who have loved the darkness and merged with this system have committed spiritual fornication with the great harlot, mystery Babylon.
Lets start by reading the first six verses of Revelation 17:1-6.
Judgement on the Kingdom of Darkness There is Judgement coming on this kingdom of darkness
In the end, God will destroy this system of evil and all the false gods, all the fallen angels, all the demons, all the mighty men of renown (Nephilim) and He will bring them down to the pit
John is given a glimpse of this destruction in these two chapters, 17-18.
Spiritual Babylon has its roots all the way back in the garden of Eden and it spread to the world at the Tower of Babel. At the tower of babel, the gods of this earth, fallen angels and demons united mankind to rebel against God. As a result, God scattered the people of the earth and gave humans over to the gods they were worshipping.
These are what we call the nations of the world,
and it is these very nations that the fallen spirits of Babylon have seduced and deceived.
Therefore, this judgement on Babylon is a judgement on the ones who seduced the nations, and everyone who has merged with them.
It is a judgement on the fallen angels and demons of old, these gods of this world and all the people that have been deceived into following them.
When God dispersed the nations at Babel, all the nations were dispersed to the gods that they worshipped, Deuteronomy 32.
This is God’s wrath, He gave the nations over to their own desires.
But God kept one nation for Himself, the nation of Israel
Through whom He would send the Savior, the Seed, and through that Seed, all nations of the world would be blessed, Gen 22:18; Isaiah 54:7-8.
God is calling everyone out from the system of darkness into His marvelous Light, but everyone who chooses to stay in darkness, will be judged.
This Judgement in Revelation 17-18 is the destruction of Babylon, the destruction of the system of evil and darkness
It is the death and destruction of the gods of this world.
Psalm 82 describes this Judgement,
a judgement against the counsel of the gods that rebelled against Him
in verse 7 he says to these rebellious angels, “you will die like men.”
Why is Babylon called a Mystery? A mystery is something once concealed but now revealed. The book of Revelation is revealing the mystery of who Babylon is. Revelation is the Light exposing the things done in the darkness, John 3:19-20.
The system of darkness tries to disguise itself of its true evil.
It manipulates people into thinking their way is holy and right and true, but it is deception
Paul says Satan and his workers disguise themselves as an angels of light, 2 Cor 11:13-15.
Jude says they are ones who have crept in unnoticed... hidden reefs in your love feasts, Jude 4, 12
John says these antichrists were with us, but were not of us, 1 John 2:18-19
Paul warns the Ephesian elders saying savage wolves will rise up from among you, Acts 20:29-30
Again Paul warns of the deception of being seduced by lying wonders, 2 Thess 2:9-12.
Mystery Babylon has always been there behind the scenes, lurking in the shadows, manipulating and seducing men to love the darkness and fornicate with her harlotries.
Ezekiel speaks of this deception and harlotry with the leaders of Jerusalem.
Ezekiel 16:14-17, 25-30.
Notice the kingdoms that Jerusalem committed harlotry with:
Egypt ... Assyria ... Chaldea (Babylon)
These are the first three of seven kingdoms of men. The other four are:
Persia ... Greece ... Rome ... New World Order
This is significant because these are the 7 heads (kingdoms) of the beast that the great harlot is riding and manipulating, Revelation 17:9-10.
The enemy has always tried to seduce God’s people
Spiritual Babylon, the system of darkness has been at work through all the kingdoms of men to seduce them away from God
This is the doctrine of Balaam and the spirit of Jezebel, Rev 2:14, 20-23.
The Great Harlot Babylon is also referred to in Isaiah as the Lady of Kingdoms, Isaiah 47:5
Now lets look at these abominations a little deeper in Ezekiel 8.
Ezekiel 8:1-10
Men hiding in the darkness because they love their evil deeds and power
Temple filled with idolatry, the worship of demons and every creeping thing
Idols of the house of Israel portrayed all around the walls, Ezek 7:20.
These were originally the items of adornment God gave the children of Israel, but they have turned them into images of their abominations, Ezek 16:14, 17.
Ezekiel 8:11-12
They are deceived into thinking they are doing these things in secret
But God sees all, Rev 2:18- eyes like a flame of fire
Ezekiel 8:13-14
Tammuz- reincarnated Nimrod
This worship of demons goes back all the way to Babel and Nimrod’s Kingdom
Semiramis- the wife and mother of Nimrod (the mother of Tammuz)
Nimrod was killed and resurrected as the sun god
Semiramis divinely conceived Tammuz by the sun’s rays and Nimrod was reborn
Ezekiel 8:15-16
Sun worship... the worship of Nimrod ... the worship of demons in the house of God
Ezekiel 8:17-18
Judgement is coming on Babylon and all who worship her and her demons
The enemy is always trying to infiltrate into the hearts of God’s people to draw them away
This spiritual fornication didn’t stop with Israel, in fact sadly, this harlotry has crept into the Church
Just as we read earlier, this is the constant warning throughout the New Testament
Last week we read the vision in Daniel 4 and the great tree representing the system of Babylon
Which was paralleled with the parable of the mustard seed growing up into a monstrosity so that the birds (the enemy) could nest in her branches.
We also overlaid the warnings from Jesus to Pergamos and Thyatira to not marry the world or be seduced by it, Rev 2:14, 20-23.
But sadly, this is exactly what the Catholic Church has done, and they are inviting the entire world to nestle in her branches.
The vision God gave Ezekiel in chapter 8 could easily be talking about the Catholic Church
The Hidden Deceptions of the Catholic Church
Idols of worship displayed all around the walls
(statues of saints and relics)
Weeping for Tammuz
(statue of Mary and Jesus that replicates Semiramis and Tammuz)
The worship of the sun
(monstrance... a sacred vessel to display the eucharist shaped like the sun)
One World Religion
(Ecumenical efforts to unite all religions to one god. Inviting all religions, even those outside the Christian faith such as Islam, Hindu, Buddhism, Judaism and more, to participate in the "common path of humanity."
The enemy is, and will continue to use the Catholic Church as its vessel for spiritual Babylon
She is the great harlot who deceives the world
A great world dominating power who is in bed with the enemy
Manipulated by demons, fallen angels, and even Satan himself to unite the world against the Truth
When the Western Roman Empire fell in 476AD to the Germanic Barbarians, the Catholic Church became even stronger.
The uncivil Germanic Barbarians conquered the Empire, but through the manipulations of the Catholic Church by spiritual influence, they stepped in and took control of both civil and spiritual authority.
By the threats of their spiritual authority as being the voice of God, they used this for selfish gain of money and power
The Catholic Church has killed millions of true Christians,
kept the Bible from being in the hands of the people,
and promoted a system of hierarchy in the church that is an abomination to God (Nicolaitans)
This is still going on today, (apart from burning Protestants at the stake)
and their influence will continue to grow and become more powerful into the 7-Year Tribulation in which the killing of Christians will resume within “the church.”
What is our response to this evil? Jude 20–23-20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22 And on some have compassion, making a distinction; 23 but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.
