Containing over 150 woodcuts, including those of:
John Foxe’s Book of Martyrs has been called “The most important Christian work ever printed outside of the Bible itself.” It documents the martyrdom of all of history’s recorded saints from the original Apostles of the First Century, to the mid-16th Century Reformation, spanning through the bloody reign of Queen Mary.
It was, to that time, the largest publishing project ever undertaken in England.
Large folio containing over 2,000 pages with black letter font in double columns
John Foxe recounts the struggles and the blood these men and women paid that we might have our Bible freely in our homes.
This book is a record of passion, glory, and blood. An account and a tribute to those "who loved not their lives even unto death"

Nearly flawless edition of this rare masterpiece. Huge book with over 2,000 pages, complete and bound in a handsome leather binding, bright, clean, and well preserved.
Volume 1 Title page and portrait wood cut is attached to secure, bound leaf. Volume II Title page secure and intact.
Some soiling at bottom margin of the first 13 leaves
1mm diameter worm hole near center of page, affecting first 70 leaves
Page 147- has a slight tear to the bottom right margin- no loss of text
Page 779- corner is missing at margin, bottom right- 2-1/2” x 1-1/2- no loss of text
Page 873- corner is missing at margin, bottom right- 1-1/4” x 1/2- no loss of text
In the margin, starting at page 1994 through 2041 there is a worm hole approx. 1mm x 3mm- no loss of text
In the margin starting at 2041 through the end of the book several other worm holes appear in the margin with no loss of text
Page 2026 has a small tear in the margin with loss of a few marginal notes- ¾” x 1-1/2”
Back cover board has a small bend at top right corner.
